Yesterday I launched a new section of my blog "SEO Frequently Asked Questions" where I will be answering some of the most popular and misunderstood questions concerning search engine optimization.
I will periodically be highlighting some of the more important questions as they are added.
Once you've got the keyword you want to get on the first page with, place that keyword in your blog's title or in a few titles of blog posts.
It helps to have as much content as you can pertaining to that keyword or phrase. One mistake you do not want to make is placing too many of the same keywords on the same page, this is known as keyword stuffing and they will be ignored.
Having a few solid back links on higher page ranked related websites will also go a long way to boosting your SERP.
Be patient - It will take time to achieve getting good search position on a highly competitive keyword but it's not impossible. Just using these simple techniques I got a blog on the first page in 2 months on a competitive keyword.

Thanks for stopping in, good luck, it's hard but not impossible.
i have a celebrity entertainment site. I noticed other celeb sites starting new celeb sites just so they could link back.
Is there any benefit to doing this??
thank you.
Shari
Hi Shari,
I would say yes and no.
Creating new blogs for only the sole purpose of placing your link on it and nothing more is considered in book, black hat SEO. If you do it en masse it's considered link farming. Yes gaining some backlinks are good and no in the sense that it's not really the kind of stuff you want to be doing.
Having backlinks on new sites with minimal content that are related don't really give you too much benefit anyways. Unless they plan on making that blog become established and have it's own domain name etc.
But in order for it to have a major impact you would almost have to create several hundred if not a thousand new accounts to equal a handful of quality legit backlinks from a reputable blog. Hope this helps.

I had to smile. Such as small post for such a big question. Wish it were that easy. :)
If I may, I'd add a few more:
Create a keyword-rich title and url
Optimize the site structure by "siloing"
Optimize on-site linking by using keywords in anchor text and point to silo landing pages
Most importantly, though, write fun, creative, brilliant copy so that EVERYONE in the world will link to you. Easy. Peasy. :)
Hi Kathy,
You're right hehe, this post was meant more to kick off my SEO FAQ page and at the very least get people on the right track to getting on the first page. There are of course a mind-boggling list of ways to do so.
And you're right on your important fact, every trick in the world doesn't compare to an awesome post that everyone will link to, after all that's what "supposed" to happen right? hehe.
Hope you come back, I always like to hear insightful comments!
Thanks
-Aaron
Great information!
Nice tips, thank you. I use my keyword in every title of my blog posts and got to the first page of Google in only 2 months, too. That, and I blog in my native language, not English, so maybe there are not so many competitors.
Well beside that I think I should optimize my blog more, and learn about SEO depeer
